Government is the ultimate confidence game. It’s power rests on the idea that enforcing issued edicts through public pressure and policing is unchallengeable.
That power, however, is anything but that. Policing is a bluff, and a dangerous one at that. That bluff is maintained through rational risk assessment we all do when deciding whether to challenge the policeman’s demands.
This tension lies at the heart of all government systems, no matter how repressive or constructive. Those in power, ultimately remain there only with the consent of the governed. And once confidence in the constructive aspects of government (whatever they may be) fails, that’s when chaos ascends.
Charles Lipson, writing in Real Clear Politics, finally categorized the extent to which we as Americans have lost confidence in our institutions. Frankly, he’s a little late, but hey, I never turn my nose up to anyone willing to join this party.
The problem we face, beyond the specifics about crime, COVID, duplicity, and social division, is a palpable breakdown in public order at the same time the public has lost confidence in our government officials and the institutions they lead. The two meta-problems—the breakdown of order and erosion of public confidence—are deeply intertwined because we count on our leaders and institutions to give us reliable information, provide a stable environment (so each of us can go about our lives), and abide by the same rules we all do. Those are foundational elements of a peaceful, liberal, democratic society. Their attrition imperils that society and its governance.
Lipson’s right. And that he’s being published in a regime-friendly site like RCP is a tell that there is real worry at the top of the dominance hierarchy. Long-time readers know that chronicling this decline of confidence is kinda this blog’s raison d’etre so it’s good to see these ideas filtering out into ‘the real world.’
The 4 Stages of Griefing
But it’s also a tell that because we can now talk about this with our outside voices it justifies steps being taken right now to close the loop, lock the doors and push their control over us to its crisis point.
That justification however, is a flimsy one, only made by those so suffused with self-righteousness that they refuse to entertain anyone’s non-compliance. I came across a tweet that succinctly expressed the current state of affairs as it pertains to COVID-19 and the Delta bogeyman.
Last week I told you that we’d entered the eye of Davos’ Storm. We are accelerating towards a future that when viewed from the outside looks like Terry Gilliam’s Brazil but feels from the insides like Steven Spielberg’s interpretation of Philip K. Dick’s Minority Report.
Davos and their agents have reached Stage 4.
And Stage 4 can last longer than a lot of people are uncomfortable with.
Things would have never gotten to Stage 4 if our leaders had been honest brokers.
Things would have never gotten to Stage 4 is they weren’t engaged in the biggest psy-op in human history.
Things wouldn’t have gotten to Stage 4 if they were actually doing the jobs we gave them and respected the relationship between government and governed.
Today going to Stage 4 is inviting chaos when they should be restoring order. The problem for The Davos Crowd is they have always benefitted from inviting a little chaos in the past.
Because, in the past, the consensual hallucination of government was still there. We still believed, wrongly, that they had our best interests at heart. So, any chaos inserted in the Matrix could be used as an opportunity to advance their schemes, because the critical mass of skepticism wasn’t there.
But, that’s not the case now. Inviting chaos when they’ve taken everything from us and exposed their rapaciousness is inviting something they’ve never seen before.
While the U.S. hasn’t hit rock bottom yet, we’re not seeing the real uprising. In France, Italy and now Poland, those that have nothing left to lose have lost it (H/T to Gerald Celente). Does anyone want to see what happens when another 6 million Americans are thrown out of their homes by Blackrock?
No wonder Biden was desperate to get the eviction moratorium extended no matter how unconstitutional.
But when you mix this level of social and financial repression with the complete lack of confidence in (and by) the institutions, as Lipson pointed out, you get something very volatile indeed. This is why Italians were burning their vaccination cards this weekend.
This is why French firefighters and public health officials are striking against President Macron’s mandates. And it’s why no matter how much our media, the government and the COVID Karens in the ‘burbs threaten us the more likely when someone stands up and just says, “No,” the whole thing comes crashing down.
Welcome to Stage 5
Because of this instability, this fragility, it is incumbent on us right now to say “No,” everywhere. Threats of job loss over vaccination? No, force them to fire you. The lawyers will be standing 20 deep to take your case to court.
In Moscow the restaurants lost 80% of their business overnight after the city instituted a vaccine passport to eat out. The response? Russians just said, “No,” and cooked. This is your model.
All during the ‘pandemic’ in my home town I avoided places that mandated a mask and ignored the warnings on those places that tried to browbeat me into wearing one.
I walked in, was polite, did my business and left.
I wore masks out of politeness to locals outside of my hometown. But, that’s it.
Today, we are being coerced to accept second-class citizenship for not getting vaccinated where the vaccines do nothing to stop the spread of the virus. This is being framed as irresponsibility when, if anything, the vaccinated carry higher viral loads making them potential super-spreaders endangering everyone else.
I don’t need to get an experimental gene therapy to validate your life choices.
I need you to see that there is more to life than following the mandates of psychopaths and pathological liars to err on the side of caution.
No wonder there’s an increasing cohort of people moving into Stage 5, just saying ‘No.’ The time for virtue-signaling is over. The time for lying about masks, death statistics and the basics of virology is over. This is a political operation and we need to treat it as such.
If you got the jab, fine. If you didn’t have a side-effect, great!
If you got COVID afterwards, had mild symptoms and recovered, even better. I’m glad you survived.
But, it stops there. Don’t worry about me. Now it’s your responsibility to understand what the true stakes are and find a future that doesn’t end in derangement, a permanent underclass and mass death.
So, let’s stop pretending that any of this now is about public health, and hasn’t been for more than a year. If anything it has always been about your personal health and therefore getting a vaccine should be a personal choice.
Anything beyond that is pure politics serving the interests of those who have been caught red-handed lying about every bit of this and profiting from our shared misery egregiously.
It is about the failure of the state to make good on its basic promises for decades and coming to terms with that honestly. Now the State’s lies about COVID and the vaccines are distractions from their failures, dividing us to not only maintain that power but expand it exponentially.
Our confidence in them is gone. That much is crystal clear. What isn’t obvious to many is that their confidence in our willingness to go along with them is also gone. That’s why they are so swiftly moving into Stage 4.
Because that is the far scarier state of play for them.
The more we simply go to Stage 5 and say, “No,” the quicker this entire operation collapses and we can get on with Stage 6, fixing what was broken.

Yes, exactly.
People are waking up. The number of the indoctrinated masses can only shrink from here. The ranks of Davosian stormtroopers can swell no further.
And the Davosians know it.
This is their moment. It’s now or never. They must pull the trigger on their crisis event, or see decades of work dissolve in ruins.
Buckle your seatbelt Tom. Kansas is going bye-bye.
P,S – Watch the Davosian Rishi Sunak rise to power, as swiftly as Obama and Macron before him. Another one of their Manchurian candidates. Look at his father-in-law.
Powerful commentary! Thank you.
From mises.org:
Hume’s more famous exposition says that government is founded on opinion, and that “this maxim extends to the most despotic and military governments, as well as the most free and most popular.”
Mises also subscribed to Hume’s thesis, writing in Human Action “…rulers, who are always a minority, cannot lastingly remain in office if not supported by the consent of the majority of those ruled. Whatever the system of government may be, the foundation upon which it is built and rests is always the opinion of those ruled…”
Mises added that, “in the long run there is no such thing as an unpopular government.”
Looking at the sorry lot of the Power Elite & state of the institutions they control, we obviously still have way to go before enough normies change their opinion & withdraw their consent.
Another fine piece, thanks!
I confronted again today the thought that if and when this is all finally revealed as the world’s greatest and perhaps most evil psyop, it may very well be the case, once again, that no one will go to jail, be fined, nor held accountable in any way.
Following that chain of thought, it occurred to me to notice that the debate about the virus origin story has been quietly allowed to die. Have you noticed that no one is talking about it any more? Perhaps the sudden acknowledgement of the lab leak theory’s plausibility was a strategic retreat by the narrative machine.
Someone might have started to worry about what might happen if the truth came out, and the overwhelming unlikelihood of the natural origin story was making it too hard to defend. By giving ground and then adding a few unrelated distractions, they have successfully hypnotized the public into forgetting about it.
Perhaps another clue that some people feel their grip on the management of this psyop might be slipping.
Have you ever wondered why Obama, a lawyer / community activist by training, would have issued a ban on gain of function virus research in 2015?
You know, the ban fauci ignored when he gave US taxpayer money to ecohealth alliance to pass along to wuhan lab?
Turns out French intelligence service warned Washington that wuhan was likely developing bio-weapons in addition to the allegedly science research they claim in PR brochures.
Covid release at this time might have been an accident. As in they might have intended to release it at some other time or place… like Taiwan or Tibet. But China were developing a bio weapon to be released at some point, even if late 2019 was accidental.
Covid was lab engineered, and fauci knew this when he sent US taxpayer money to fund gain of function research
It was NOT any kind of an accident, Pierre. Bio labs doing that kind of work must have some serious safety protocols in place, or they would be causing all kinds of illnesses near them almost monthly!! You can’t “accidentally” open a wrong valve or flush something down a sink that is going to potentially cause grave harm to the area and even BEYOND it! If it happened to be that way, it would lead to a cute little ditty “It’s not a wonderful day in the neighborhood!” very quickly indeed!! And even ten cardigans worn on top of each other would give you any protection!!
If there actually was such a virus, and it got out of the lab, it would have to be due to a conscious act done by more than just one man or woman. There would be a long paper trail to show who had control of it last and why.
@gearheadedoneRandy
We are talking about a Chinese lab here. They are sloppy. Same with Indians. Bhopal blew up because of sloppy Indians.
A BSL 4 lab in China is like a BSL2 in the US.
Not saying I support or disagree with the lab release theory, just saying that a BSL4 in China could easily leak a virus. The Wuhan lab was notoriously sloppy. They flushed all sorts of pathogens down their normal sewage outlet too.
But still, you could be right about it being deliberate. My point is that it was not necessarily deliberate.
it almost certainly was an accident. The Wuhan lab has different safety levels labs in it. a Level 4 lab, a Level 3 lab and a Level 2 lab.
Work on bat corona viruses was being done in all three labs! Imagine that. Working on a chimera in a level 2 lab that is about as sterile as your dentist’s office. What could go wrong?
The actions that the Chinese took at the lab and nearby in late 2019 says much about what happened. They went into panic mode. Why would they do that if they were releasing it purposely, cover story?
Doubt it. Their cover is that it came from Italy or Ft. Detrick. Anyone with any sense knows that it came from that lab and got out by accident. Probably even know the first person infected and I bet he loved to go to the wet market to eat a bowl of tiger penis stew, where he infected someone else.
That’s the Occam’s Razor version of the story, and I’m very sympathetic to it, FYI. The Chinese are notoriously secretive about how they handle things like this and are paranoid about showing weakness at the state actor level… this is why they always look to us like they are guilty of something.
That isn’t to say there isn’t a different possible story here, but the Chinese trying to cover up what was happening is not proof of anything other than the government is paranoid. Example #122211556 of this.
That’s BS & completly without proof -It may also & quite likely have come from one of the hundreds of USA Military biological laboratories across the world. From The Unz Review :
According to the widely accepted current chronology, the Covid-19 epidemic began in Wuhan during late October or early November of 2019. But the World Military Games were also held in Wuhan during that same period, ending in late October, with 300 American military servicemen attending. As I’ve repeatedly emphasized in my articles and comments for more than a year, how would Americans react if 300 Chinese military officers had paid an extended visit to Chicago, and soon afterward a mysterious and deadly epidemic had suddenly erupted in that city?
https://www.unz.com/runz/american-pravda-the-truth-and-the-whole-truth-on-the-origins-of-covid-19/
I look at it slightly differently, willem.
The People have not been hypnotized or forgotten about the truth of the virus being a lab leak. Oh no, just the opposite. We know and remember and have stored that deep inside like a reserve battery pack for later use. Our eyes are open and getting opened more with every clumsy propaganda stunt by the Regime. Yes, there are still some true believers in the Regime and their cult doctrines but the People overwhelmingly have rejected it and are simply waiting. Biding their time. Waiting for the Regime to make the first violent move. Nothing is forgotten, nothing is forgiven.
i dunno .. living in a dystopia is a lot of fun. That is, until i’m imprisoned or have to live on the streets or am concentration camped or suicided or accidented or have corrective brain surgery.
Personal choice is deciding whether or not to get a driver’s license. Something more “egregious” is going on and I am not sure how to characterize it. Getting a driver’s license is something “exterior” to your person but this choice is “interior”, and in the worst case scenario, it could be the last personal choice you will ever make. Or if there are long term side effects the choice could result in permanent life-long disability.
So, given that, where is the “SERIOUSNESS”? And even that word is inadequate, as I will try to explain and demonstrate in the next paragraph.
If you give Fauci and the government the benefit of the doubt, then is somewhat understandable (because they “truly believe” they have the full weight of the scientific community behind them and they are 99.9% sure that they are correct) to want to restrict and censor potentially dangerous countervailing opinions. An example of that would be allowing people to decide for themselves whether or not to evacuate their children from the Chernobyl exclusion area.
I get that completely. But how do you explain this?
https://youtu.be/iHeicqz1twg
I don’t even know how to react to that. How can any intelligent person believe in anything they say or take them seriously? The Whitehouse and the CDC might as well hold press conferences under the logo of the Onion or the Babylon Bee. We are living in a farce.
I pity the individual who does not have a terminal degree in one of the fundamental sciences and is trying to make sense of all of this.
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Sir, perhaps you are oblivious to the masses of people driving on suspended licenses or with no license at all?
How many are driving with canceled insurance policies (canceled the instant car registration was completed). Perhaps you are unaware of how many drivers have no insurance, even in states that require it by law.
Perhaps you believe the average driver has their tires properly inflated, brake calipers calibrated, brake pads in working order. Really really basic car safety stuff.
Perhaps you believe that providing a bunch of identity papers makes a person a safe driver?
Police in my state regularly speed while patrolling the state highways. We are talking 90 in a 55mph posted zone. Police argue that they have special driver training so it’s ok for them to ignore the laws.
So a local fellow who happens to be an SCCA certified amateur race car driver asked if he could also speed at will. He has far more training and high speed driving experience than the cops who ignore speed limits while writing tickets to the public.
The courts did not buy that logic. Only lesser trained cops can ignore speed limits. It’s about authority, not training.
Bob: I think you misunderstood. I was not advocating for driving without a license but just pointing out that it was a personal decision to obtain a license or not. As you point out it is completely necessary to for the government to mandate licensure and it is up to the individual to opt-in or opt-out or change their mind. I was using that as an example of the typical and normal “personal choices” we have to make everyday in relation to the law and government. However, as I was trying to point out, the vaccination mandate goes well beyond that and mirrors the fundamental argument of abortion pro-choice advocates: “my body, my choice” (ie the government intruding on one’s most personal space, their body).
One of the arguments against capital punishment is that it is a “slippery slope”, as once the State has the power to take a life, it opens the door to things like the Nazi euthanasian program and the Holocaust. The vaccination issue, in my mind, falls in this same “slippery slope” category.
As Tom alluded to in the above post, the vaccination may just turn out to be fine for the vast majority of people, and thus itself may turn out to be a “non-issue” eventually, however the way they are going about implementing the program by silencing dissenting voices bodes ill for society; as the very same people who are advocating censorship and mandates now are the very same ones that were advocating skepticism and non-compliance last year.
So, there seems to be an absence of a “principled position” and as a result an absence of “seriousness” in all of this, when indeed, given the potential for life altering consequences, there ought to be.
Biden, Harris, Cuomo, et.al. based their campaigns on skepticism and non-compliance, so the expectation of some would be that they would govern the same way given the gravity of the issue.
So, I personally have arrived at Tom’s Stage 5 coda:
“Our confidence in them is gone. That much is crystal clear. What isn’t obvious to many is that their confidence in our willingness to go along with them is also gone.”
Another thing that no one mentions any more is the fact that you are completely on your own dealing with any side effects. Everyone that could ordinarily be held responsible for making you whole has been legally indemnified.
I haven’t seen a single story, even on alternative news sites, that has investigated this angle with side effect victims. Might be a good story for an aspiring journalist.
And yet Obama and his friends are dancing.
The Davosians have won (for now), and they know it.
They are about to manufacture chaos, so that we beg for their Great Reset.
The UN inspector for torture has announced he is investigating the German government for having polizei beat unarmed lockdown protestors.
Of course, UN inspections are a bad joke. His findings, whatever they are, will come to nothing. G7 governments, aka davos attendees, will use their UN veto power if necessary. More likely the guy will get fired for talking truth to power.
The inspector knows this, and made his investigation very public. He has statements and cell phone video from several hundred witnesses so far. The evidence of the crime will be struck from official court records, but not from the minds of the jury.
The UN inspector even went so far as to accuse the German government of being at war with their own people. Officially. He wrote those exact words GOVERNMENT AT WAR WITH ITS OWN PEOPLE in his announcement of investigation.
The French are out protesting, but they protest every week over something. They will surrender next, it’s what they do.
But we are seeing more and more protests in Italy, Spain, and Germany. Bigger protests. We are starting to see unions finally do something besides collect dues; they are refusing mandatory mRNA drugs and even more loudly refusing illegal and inhuman health passports.
Davos were focused on implementing passports from the beginning. They said a vaccine would take many years so let’s implement health passports and Stasi checkpoints at every restaurant, public transit, school and place of business. School checkpoints are particularly insidious because children can be indoctrinated and trained to snitch on their own parents.
Obama had his birthday bash without masks and without health passports. Party members don’t follow the rules they impose on everyone else.
If covid was actually dangerous (it has a 99.7% survival rate, fatalities are people with pre-existing conditions), Obama’s party would have been cancelled.
Ask ten Germans what they thought about the police handling of that woman, and at least seven will ask what she did to provoke it.
The problem will only go away when the numbers flip.
We have read your comments in earlier posts, and it’s obvious you don’t like Germans. Maybe keep some prejudices to yourself.
The question was never if germans would rise up and overthrow their own government. No one thinks the UN investigation will come to anything either. The UN is about unelected officials wasting money and then going to lunch at fancy NY restaurants that cost more than the average citizen in their home country could afford, while charging the lunch to those citizens.
The point is the citizens no longer believe their government is out to help them.
A few will go stage a protest or call U2 in for another awareness concert. Who gives a sh!t?
A very large number will sabotage the system simply by no longer bothering to prop it up.
Unions in Germany are already saying mandatory vaccinations and health passports are not going to happen. It will effect productivity that is needed to prop up the German economy and the EU. Hit Davos in the wallet and see what happens. I’m going to work, and I’m taking my time to make sure the product is PERFECT before shipping. Sure, I only produced one item today but you don’t want me to ship an inferior product do you?
Not all sabotage involves throwing clogs into the gears.
Government unions in the USA have also said no mandatory experiments or passports, even as worthless private sector unions capitulate like former PM chamberlain.
I notice JPM, MS, and GS employees are not jumping into line at the “back to the office” edicts from Dimon, Gorman and Salomon.
The only thing slowing the brain drain out of NYC is the fact that many people are using up their vacation time. If they get fired in September, the big banks have to pay bonuses accrued as of termination date…. Which will be much better than bonuses paid after the eviction moratorium ends and takes the MBS market down with it.
Heads rents don’t get paid and FNMA has to make payments with money they don’t have. Tails, landlords stop making basic repairs and property taxes implode. Mass evictions seems unlikely because the police have been defunded and there is no one to force evictions.
Bankers are greedy not stupid. The government can’t make good on MBS, so banks will take hits to profits and bonus pools… unless the bankers get themselves fired to collect bonuses accrued year to date.
landlords can’t make repairs with imaginary funds. MBS will lose collateral backing (houses and apartments will devalue from lack of maintenance) unless Biden enforces evictions or opens the economy to restart payments. Lower property values means lower property taxes. Ask Detroit and Baltimore how that works out.
The way to bring down an overlevered system is not to waste time protesting. Just work slower.
If the USA was still a world power, it wouldn’t have borrowed $4 trillion to fund a lockdown to contain a disease with a 99.7% survival rate. It wouldn’t be lying about a drug that does not grant immunity nor does it stop transmission — it is not a vaccine.
If the USA was still a world power, it wouldn’t have a leader with dementia. That just doesn’t happen in a functioning government. Period.
If the USA was still a power, the dementia patient wouldn’t be deliberately breaking the law, and a recent supreme court decision, under the psychotic and felonious pretense that he will have embezzled $45 billion by the time the lazy court jesters get around to ruling that it is still illegal.
The dementia patient never got buy-in for the forced conversion to socialism. The guy didn’t campaign at all, didn’t even bother to make empty promises. He hid in his basement.
The secretary of defense just admitted that the country lost two wars (afghan and Iraq) and didn’t exactly come out on top in Syria, Ukraine or Libya. So what is the SecDef’s top priority? Marxist indoctrination of woke politics. Second priority? Forcing healthy troops to take an experimental drug to score domestic political points.
Meanwhile the dementia patient’s mentor is having a huge party, no masks or health passports, with left wing hollywood types that all flew in on private jets while yelping about global warming.
Rules are for thee, I do whatever a f’ing want, even when I know its illegal.
These are behaviors of a banana republic, not a global power. People all over the world are judging the USA by its current actions, not by silly platitudes and
The fact that a cartel of psychopaths rule is only ONE part of the equation. The true but “culturally and politically forbidden” reality is more encompassing. Read “The 2 Married Pink Elephants In The Historical Room –The Holocaustal Covid-19 Coronavirus Madness: A Sociological Perspective & Historical Assessment Of The Covid “Phenomenon”” by Rolf Hefti at www dot CovidTruthBeKnown dot com or search for it by title and author.
Without a proper understanding, and full acknowledgment, of the true problem, no real constructive change is possible.
Let me explain the new world order to all you little people.
Your kids attend public school and get indoctrinated in wokester nonsense and marxist dogma. Throw in some heavily edited BLM history and you have an uneducated servant of the future.
My kids are getting tutors, as they were before the lockdown. Now they get several. My kids are learning calculus and science and business and how to actually balance a checkbook / turn a profit. My kids are getting robot kits for xmas. The uneducated masses aren’t going to have the skills to do complicated work, so robots will be important. My kids are traveling and learning other cultures and customs from those other peoples, not from the domestic teachers union.
Guess who’s kid is equipped to compete in the global economy? Guess who’s kid will never ever get out of debt?
If your kid doesn’t like it, what will he do? Write a protest letter to my social network? Your kid finished public high school but can’t read or write even at an 8th grade level. Your kid has no clue how to balance a checkbook, your kid was told to think math is racist.
Your kid has been taught to fear everything, to wear a mask that doesn’t protect but limits breathing. My kid is eating nutritious meals, your kid is eating high fructose corn syrup.
The founding fathers insisted on good public education, believing it was fundamental to a functioning democracy. The marxists running the USA are dismantling education because an uneducated populace is no threat.
Now run along and get your third covid shot, wear your scarlet letter mask, and be an obedient servant. If you don’t like it, you can go work for a Chinese kid who learned math and probably writes English at a higher level than you.
Guess whose parent needs a remedial-English tutor.
Speak up Dom!!
I can’t hear you over the sound of my yacht.
Gotta cut Dom a break. Based on his snooty need to critique thurston howell’s grammar, Dom is an academic who is justifiably embarrassed at what his profession has become.
There would be no need for the Zoolander School to teach kids to talk English good if academia was doing the job they are paid to do. indoctrinating kids in Marxist sh!t is taking time and resources away from the three Rs.
lulz… that little thing next to mine?
Excellent points Tom. What concerns me is the fact that these types always double down. In the face of rising popular resistance, they turn to the use of their military. Look at the plight the Aussies are in.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but the current virus is not a real danger (to most people). But they no doubt have ones that are.
Given that the general population is already primed for the dread Next Variant, what happens if its a real weapon this time? Then all bets are off. Desperate people, do desperate things. If it looks like their Great Reset is headed for defeat, lets hope they don’t double down again. Lets hope this winter, isn’t as Dark as some are expecting.
Great article!
Below is a link to our new English Declaration of Independence.
It’s a simple document, the signatories to which … reject wholly the presumed authority of the Parliament to govern.
When there are enough signatories, the document will be presented to the appropriate ‘establishment figures’, and they will have to decide whether those signatories are ‘free to withdraw their Consent’, or whether those signatories WILL be governed without that Consent.
The idea is to present the Establishment with a question to which there is no satisfactory answer.
Will we get the numbers? Who knows? Ya gotta try, tho.
Supposed ‘democratic Governments’ throughout the World, live in fear of ‘voter disengagement’. This is because, as you suggest, their legitimacy is predicated upon the illusion of Consent. A simple, online document, really might have the power to reveal that deception.
Anyway, a similar Declaration worked for you guys, way back in the 18th Century. I do concede that there was something of a squabble over the fine print.

Indeed, now is the time to strike and in addition to just saying “No” to ridiculous edicts, I plan to express my dissent in another way as well.
I will not send the US Treasury my third quarter estimated tax payment (due by September 15) until the end of October. The “penalty” for making the payment 45 days late is minor, less than $5 per $1000 of tax due (See IRS Instructions and Form 2210).
At the very least this will provide a bit of personal catharsis but there is also a chance, given the rather unique present circumstances, that it will cause Janet Yellen and the federal government a bit of trouble.
As of July 30 the federal government reached its statutory debt limit and without congressional action, which does not appear imminent, Yellen has been forced into taking “extraordinary actions” in order to keep the government operating. Yellen has called Oct. 1 a critical date for U.S. government cash flows, because at least $150 billion in payments are due on the first day of the 2022 fiscal year. I’m sure they are counting on the third quarter estimated tax payments flowing in as usual a few weeks before the start of the new fiscal year. Mine won’t be there.
Perhaps if enough of us who have to pay estimated taxes quarterly (instead of through withholding) did this we could force the government into a shut down. At the very least it will make me smile to think that for the price of a lottery ticket I might be able to cause a little discomfort to Janet Yellen and the Biden regime.
I keep looking back to Prohibition. They pushed too far, the whole country said no, go fuck yourself and went about ignoring them. Here we are again, yes?
Galt’s gulch is a place of fiction, but its really more a state of mind.
Lots of NYC investment bankers are trying to get fired in September or October, knowing full well the bonus pool will get seriously dinged once the eviction moratorium scam blows up in Biden’s face. The money isn’t getting paid, and under / unemployed people are not going to suddenly pay 16 months worth of rent or mortgage all at once.
Covid isn’t serious enough to stop Obama’s party or a dozen or so weddings that “pro-vax, pro-mask” hypochondriacs keep screaming on the TV. But it did make a lot of people ask if they want to spend an hour and a half (each way), or three hours per day commuting into NYC… and in an era of high speed broadband it simply isn’t necessary. I’m sure the bank CEOs will scream blue murder from their limos and helicopters that someone has to pay for the giant HQ buildings; but three hours is 1/8th of a day. There needs to be a REALLY big award to make that worthwhile. And the same bank CEOs are telling people bonuses will be contained, commute times will not.
People outside the banking industry are no doubt saying boo-hoo, poor little overpaid bankers. I’m not arguing that point.
I’m saying that Wall Street, warts and all, pays about 60% of NYC taxes (directly and indirectly). Restaurants, strip clubs, box seats at sporting events, dry cleaners… and perhaps most annoying of all: city hall. If the bankers leave, NYC dies. Simple as that.
Cuomo is being replaced by the next clown. Meet the new gov, same as the old gov policy-wise. DeBlasio will continue destroying NYC for another few months. Eric Adams is supposed to be much better, at least on crime and maybe on other topics too. But Adams isn’t going to make the commute shorter. He isn’t going to protect Wall Street bonuses (boo-hoo to you). He isn’t going to solve crime or homeless problems overnight. He needs tax revenue to even keep city hall lights on. Adams can’t do anything about the economic impact of the lockdown; 16 months of non-payment of rent and mortgages is going to impact MBS securities big time, and thus FNMA and bank earnings.
So bankers are going to stay away from NYC, and their tax revenue is staying away too. CEO threats to fire the tax payers just makes their commute much shorter; its not a threat, its a selling point. Many are hoping to be fired before the lockdown impacts bank earnings and bonuses.
Nothing in the pork spending package (about 10% of the infrastructure bill is actually infrastructure) will fix NYC. Even if DeBlasio resigns this week. There is only so much Eric Adams can do, even if he were more centrist that he is rumored to be.
The last time NYC went bankrupt, it took 10 years and borrowing support from upstate NY to turn things around. Upstate NY used to have lots paper companies, Kodak, IBM and GE plants; those are gone. It will take at least 10 years to turn NYC around, or it might turn into the next Detroit.
Note that Biden’s efforts to incite panic over delta, lamba, fuk-yu variants will only make matters much worse, even if Obama’s party doesn’t prove the whole thing is a farce. If covid is really dangerous enough to lockdown the whole economy, why isn’t Obama protecting himself? As a former president, he gets daily security briefings. Never mind all us little people, if its so dangerous why isn’t he protecting himself? His family? His “closest friends”?
Its very clear that Davos plans for another lockdown will destroy the entities that prop up Washington DC (NYC being one very large example). Washington DC will self destruct, and no one is lifting a finger to help.
That is Galt’s gulch. Not a place, but a state of mind.
Notice that judges are panning the moratoriums, but none are actually doing anything to stop them.
I-Bankers will plead with the Feds of all stripes and even the states to make sure the eviction moratoriums drag on until February, right after bonuses are paid. Asset inflation, deal flow, and perhaps a little more S&T before year-end will make 2021’s bonus pool the GOAT.
It is retail that will take in in the shorts with the mother of all bail-ins in 2022.
Long gold, guns, and ground.
The judges have been threatened not to interfere. This is the Davos effect writ large. But I’m not disagreeing with you
It doesn’t matter if the moratorium ends (and people can’t come up with 16 months rent/mortgage) or if the moratorium is upheld (and landlords have no money for repairs and maintenance). And unless you are a banker their bonuses don’t matter.
What matters is that thousands of people will get evicted, or thousands of homes will fall into disrepair. Either way, the collateral that backs trillions in MBS and REIT secure impaired, causing massive losses to investors and banks. It’s a problem whether the moratorium gets ruled lawful or unlawful. It doesn’t matter how the judges rule, the lockdown was supposed to be two weeks, not 16+ months.
What matters is that bankers and banks will not be paying crazy taxes that Eric Adams will need to put NYC back together again. If you weren’t paying atttention before, Wall Street pays 60% of NYC taxes (directly or indirectly). What other entity is going to make up for that loss of NYC tax revenue?
NYC will become the next Detroit, the next Baltimore, the next Philadelphia. The next rust belt. Maybe it will make a comeback in a decade or more, or maybe not. It certainly won’t be OK in the near term
Dear Tom. The Davos crowd pressed the button and they know there is no turning back. They bet it all. Either them or the people. They will go to great length and try every single trick in the book to subjugate the people. I believe next they will try the cyber polygon. They will cut power grid and food supplies. Kissinger once said “if you want to control a state use the oil, if you want to control the people use the food”. This I believe what they will do next. They already had a test run in July. We may have a very dark winter.
The pandemic affects the elderly, those with compromised immune systems, and people with a low level of will to live — and the rest are generally safe. This is rarely discussed on TV as they imply (or outright say) that everyone is in the same boat in terms of risk. It’s too frigging bad that there is so little truth in media, but there you have it.

Dr Robert Malone, who co-create mRNA technology, has been saying for months that mRNA was supposed to be custom tailored for individual cancer patients. It was not, is not, and likely never will be useful to use it in a one size fits all application like Covid-19. He warned that misuse of the technology would create super variants that would actually make things much much worse.
So yesterday an Oxford researcher in England researching mRNA use on covid confirmed that the half assed roll out of mRNA against covid likely created the delta variant and almost certainly created the lamdba variant. Robert Malone just tweeted I told you so (he was somewhat more dimplomatic but not much).
Unlike the liar Fauci, Malone did not sent taxpayer money to wuhan, and doesn’t have Fauci’s clear conflict of interest. Actually Malone would benefit from more mRNA use, except he is saying this is the wrong use for it.
Israel and England have both confirmed breakthrough cases in persons who received THREE doses, something other first world economies started after Israel.
Unlike many successful and useful vaccines developed in the past, this turd does not grant immunity. It doesn’t stop transmission. And now we have scientific proof that it is leading to new variants that are resistant to mRNA shots.
Congratulations to all the Trump derangement syndrome ass-hats who made Trump into a martyr while politicizing a health problem. You are bullying people into taking a drug that actually makes the situation worse. And your dementia patient has managed to send inflation soaring with a bunch of Marxist inspired stupidity. We could be happily ignoring stupid tweets, but you wanted to cause maximum suffering and wreck the country.
I’ve now had three comments not appear, even after 24 hours
Think Tom took a couple mental health days from his blog.
Listening to the Alice in wonderland red queen gibberish out of DC is driving everyone crazy
No, it’s just that WordPress doesn’t always alert me to a new comment and some don’t show up in the notifications scrawl on my blog dashboard. I have to go into comments manually and hunt for them and I don’t do that regularly… especially right now when I’m busy trying to get caught up from being on vacation….
I apologize if this happens, I know it feels like I don’t value your input, folks, but I really do. I only auto-junk spam/ads and stuff that is beyond my very lenient sense of decency.
So, don’t be afraid to ping me if your comment doesn’t show up.
Just Say No https://www.bitchute.com/video/Vg2IKwBr6fJi/ https://www.bitchute.com/video/tD9JgoiiS6Oi/ to bowing to threats – someone threatened me repeatedly – these are mafia and terrorist goons for all I care, they also like to hide behind cults and there are no good cults. Or agencies left. Some of them might be cops but I didn’t think so, it looked more like a low-level psychologist agent troll farm like my friend who suspiciously died complained about. Turns out I don’t give a shit if the world ends tomorrow guys, these are pussies under the gun of masters doing means to an end until they no longer have to feed the people who pay their salaries, when they’re not getting it from poppies. They threaten to expose your life in public and then they threaten your friend’s families. Good thing it’s posturing because they have 1000000 times more to lose than I do and they know it. They touch a hair on anyone’s head in any permanent way, we become martyrs, and that wasn’t my wish, I wanted to save myself, but oh well. This is still hearts and minds and keeping everyone in the dark until the last second with pure psychological warfare. I was openly advocating for moderation in the vaccine discussion until the genocidal safety concerns appeared so then I promoted open-initiative safe manganese-based vaccines ( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8093200/ ), payment processor concerns (visa and paypal), people like Patrick Bergy exposing mafia deep state tied to the military industrial complex and other things repeatedly. But it might have been some comment about people who serve masters that pissed them off, it’s not always rational because they get low-level people to do the work. They tried to convince me I had no choice but to become a cult slave of some sort because of my past when I was a white collar criminal with physical mental issues, and it’s funny the links these people have with agencies mentioned on this blog. I no longer care about anything, your cult is a joke and so is your religion and your agency. I took life too seriously and ignored too much dishonesty. So fuck it, who cares, you bring this on yourselves. No. Don’t have more to say than this because those fuckers don’t understand I’m not a narc like their little nazi dog bitches, it’s damn funny criminals worshiping a narc-based society like you won’t be looking over your should for the rest of your life, this is all public stuff. Thanks for the article Tom, this was your best one and it made a stark contrast with the servile drone mentality.
I’m sixty sevens years old and I lost confidence in the government when I was 15 years old!
