Throughout history, journalism was always about some commoner getting enough money together to buy a printing press and then grousing about the monarchy (tptb), with the monarchy trying to figure out a way to shut them down, if they became too obstreperous. With your podcasts, substituting for a print shop, you guys are following in the same tradition. The elites opened the window for this when they began consolidating the MSM and only hiring Ivy Leaguers as journalists, thinking they could produce an equivalent product. Even if they wanted to return to old fashioned objective journalism, it would be impossible due to the background, conflicts of interest and university educations of those they hire. Thus, we are back to the self-educated common man reviving the profession. Journalism has always been “organically” blue collar for that reason. I do not think I could even name a single newspaper that was founded and run by aristocrats, one with any substantial circulation anyway. Aristocrats writing for the commoner just does not work.
Thanks for the podcast!
