The other day I laid out my read on the current situation in the White House. And it wasn’t good.  President Trump looks like a man completely surrounded by jackals and piranha, tearing pieces off of him until there’s nothing left but a skeleton of the man we elected to the Drain the Swamp and put things in the U.S. back on a better path, not only for us but the entire world.

My conclusion, they’d won and he was beaten.  Or, at least, he was trapped.

The day before that I urged President Trump to give us something to support him with.  To stand up to these neoconservative/globalist vampire squids and let us help him win this rush to war over nothing in Syria.

And that’s why Trump has to at some point stand up and say, “No.”  Even if they over-ride him.   Even if they impeach him.

You have to signal that you are in charge and not the paper-hangers and criminals you were elected to fight against.  You want our continued support, earn it. Because this is not Making America Great Again.

After publishing both of those articles the headlines began to turn.  Germany’s Angela Merkel announced she wouldn’t take part in any military action in Syria.  For once, I had to applaud Mrs. Merkel.  Italy soon joined her.  Now both Canada and the Netherlands have backed off from sending troops.

Not Another 2013!

The Gypsum Lady, U.K. Prime Minister of the Moment Theresa May, is pushing for military action without the consent of parliament.  She rightly fears a repeat of parliament’s rebuke that David Cameron endured in 2013 during a similar rush to judgment against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

That rebuke began the unraveling of the U.S.’s plans to invade Syria after President Obama made his “Red Line in the Sand” speech.  The imperatives then were similar to today, except that the failure then enabled Russia and Iran to intervene in 2015 and save Assad, and, by extension, the Syrian people.

Trump over the weekend tweeted out that Obama didn’t do the right thing in 2013, backing off on Assad.  This was a complete one-eighty from Trump’s past tweets on the matter.  This is why in my previous article I felt strongly he wasn’t in charge.

All of this weekend’s war-mongering tweets were not sent by President Trump.  If they were, then this game was over before it began.  But, that simply doesn’t jibe with the past eighteen months since the election.

The Powers-that-Be have been in a complete meltdown over Trump.  They have openly defied him both legally and illegally with the blessing of the hardcore Left, the media, the punditocracy, the U.S. government alphabet agency bureaucracy, Silicon Valley and Wall St.

So, no.  I don’t believe Trump was a stalking horse for the Deep State.  People arguing that are simply incapable of critical thought.  It makes it easy to look smart and say, “I told you so,” even though there’s a mountain of evidence to the contrary.

The Heart of the Mattis

If all of this is true, however, why hasn’t Trump attacked Syria?  If the neocons have him dead to rights, why aren’t the missiles flying?

Two words, James Mattis.

In all of this I’ve said, on multiple occasions, that Trump, smartly, cozied up to the military to have a node of support no matter how bad things got him.  If the coup against him was looking successful, the military leadership of the U.S. would remain loyal to him.  That’s why Mattis was chosen as Secretary of Defense.

He’s a sober military commander who understands the costs of warfare and knows, in his heart, the Russians aren’t bluffing here.  He wants nothing to do with a war with Russia.  He, like Putin, will fight one if he has to and fight it to win, but I’m sure he’d rather piss glass than actually do so.

Keep this in mind as this story unfolds: Spooks start civil wars.  Militaries end them.

And the civil war here in the U.S. is absolutely being fomented by the spooks.  The question is, this time, which spooks?

Given that all of this breathless push to isolate Russia and push for open war in Syria began with Skripal-Gate in early March, I’d say this false flag lands squarely on the Brits.  I’m sure others are helping – Israel, Saudi Arabia, the CIA, etc – but this looks for all the world like a move by British and American Oligarchs to neuter Trump and May via MI-6.

They would get the war they wanted which would destroy Assad, partition Syria and foment regional chaos that Russia would bear the brunt of.  Moreover, once the casus belli for Syria turned out to be false, which it is, it would make both Trump and May the patsies for a war no one truly wanted.

The push to populism in the U.S. and Europe would be blunted.  It would also scuttle Brexit and maintain barriers against reconciliation between Russia and the EU, who stands to gain from the Nordstream 2 pipeline and lifting of economic sanctions if the Neocons lose control of U.S. foreign policy.

Why this?  Why now? And why so blatantly half-assed in execution?

Russian President Vladimir Putin had just unveiled to the world weapons three days before the Skripal poisoning. Those weapons destroyed the neocon narrative that Russia is weak and war with them is winnable.  Something had to be done quickly to create a war before anyone thought the situation through.

No Time For War

So, back to Mattis.  Why do I think Mattis and Trump are still in the game?  Mattis used the announcement of sending the carrier group to the Eastern Mediterranean as a delaying tactic to put new National Security Advisor John Bolton on his heels.  This opened a window for Trump to delay any attack while making it look like he was waiting for all of our assets to be in place.  He gets to look a lot more level-headed.  It gives us time to put public pressure on the politicians braying for war.

I asked for a sign.  This may have been it.

Then Kate Brannen lets it leak that Mattis and Bolton are at odds over striking Syria.  This insulates Trump from looking weak on the issue as Mattis has the gravitas and the seniority to put Bolton in his place.  In no way can Bolton over-ride Mattis no matter how trapped or neutered Trump may be after Robert Mueller’s insane raid on Trump’s lawyer, Steven Cohen.

But, this also opened up another window for Russian diplomacy to go to work.  And that’s where the unraveling of Skripal-Gate worked against them.  Already with egg on their face for backing the U.K. on diplomatic expulsions, Merkel and others would be easily convinced to back off if the Russians showed them any proof that created doubt in their minds as to Assad’s guilt.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the Russian Ministry of Defense would not have gone public emphatically stating the Russians have ‘incontrovertible proof’ the chemical weapons attack in Douma was staged if it weren’t true.

From today’s article at RT:

“The Russian Defense Ministry also has evidence that Britain had a direct involvement in arranging this provocation in Eastern Ghouta,” the general added, referring to the neighborhood of which Douma is part. “We know for certain that between April 3 and April 6 the so-called White Helmets were seriously pressured from London to speed up the provocation that they were preparing.”

According to Konashenkov, the group, which was a primary source of photos and footage of the purported chemical attack, was informed of a large-scale artillery attack on Damascus planned by the Islamist group Army of Islam, which controlled Douma at the time. The White Helmets were ordered to arrange the provocation after retaliatory strikes by the Syrian government forces, which the shelling was certain to lead to, he said.

The UK rejected the accusations, with British UN Ambassador Karen Pierce calling them “grotesque,” “a blatant lie” and “the worst piece of fake news we’ve yet seen from the Russian propaganda machine.”

Now, the Brits will deny this.  The U.S. media will say the Russians are not to be trusted.  But if that’s true then why is every normally reliable U.S. partner in war standing down.  You know this tale is beyond bogus when the lap-dog Canadians are saying no to backing the U.S.

So, like in 2013, a false flag chemical weapons attack is falling apart.  Do Trump and Mattis have enough clout within the White House still to stop the attack from happening?  I don’t know.  But, I can tell you I’m sleeping a helluva lot better tonight than I did on Monday.
